cal-or-docking-station-articleCalibration Station or Docking Station

Proper instrument maintenance is the foundation of a sound gas detection safety program. Personal gas detector manufacturers as well as regulatory agencies recommend and require that, at a minimum, the instruments go through a functional (bump) test and calibration check (or full calibration if necessary), before use.

The extent of a maintenance program depends on company needs, size, location, and infrastructure, and the most common way to adhere to gas detector maintenance requirements is through one of these three methods: manual bump tests and calibrations, calibration stations, or docking stations.

It is the intent of this white paper to present the benefits and limitations of each option, and more importantly to provide a clear difference between a calibration station and a docking station.
